In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-11 level, you must have one of the following: 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level defined as analyzing ambient air data for compliance with environmental impact statements, and developing ambient air reports. 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree; or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; the education must be directly related and provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position equivalent combination of education and experience Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Ability to conduct and/or provide technical assistance to field sampling and analytical services, facility inspections or audits, and/or monitoring support. Knowledge of ambient air monitoring regulations, policies, and practices. Skill in written communication. Skill in oral communication. Ability to train personnel in ambient air monitoring. Ability to attend meetings and hearings. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. This position is in Region 4, Laboratory Services and Applied Science Division, Quality and Support Branch, Quality Assurance Section. About Region 4.
