You must meet the Specialized Experience and the Proficiency Requirement to qualify for Secretary (Office Automation), as described below. For GS-07: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-06, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-07 includes experience in at least four or more of the following: Review or proofread documents for conformance, format, or grammatical accuracy; Prepare documents, correspondence or reports using computer software programs; Maintain office support tasks such as office calendar, scheduling appointments, coordinating travel, or managing time and attendance records; Research, locate, and assemble information for various reports, briefings, and/or conferences; Create and maintain records and files; Communicate with customers through a variety of contact methods (e.g., email, telephone, in-person, web form inquiries); Coordinate meetings, trainings, or seminars. You must have a typing proficiency of 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. You must have a certificate of proficiency from an organization authorized to issue such certificates or self-certify your proficiency.
The incumbent serves as the personal assistant to the Assistant District Manager providing program and administrative support through a broad range of technical and administrative areas, as well as guidance and assistance to support staff in subordinate branches. This position is outside the bargaining unit.
