Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application. Applicants applying for the GS-13 must meet the following requirements: A. Selective Placement Factor: Applicants must be a federal agency certified federal polygraph examiner in good standing, having successfully completed the National Center for Credibility Assessment (NCCA) or Predecessor Basic PDD course. (Must submit a copy of your certificate). AND B. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting the Empirical Scoring System when reviewing polygraph software; 2) Using practical experience in techniques relating to polygraph pre and post examination interviews to elicit information in support of adjudicative decisions regarding persons in access or requesting access to classified information and/or positions of public trust; 3) Explaining relevant topics in a manner that differentiates disqualifying conduct from non-pertinent transgressions by a law enforcement applicant; 4) Testifying in litigation as a sworn federal agent to any criminal confessions and/or admissions collected during the conduct of a polygraph examination; and, 5) Providing technical review of examination files while following ethical, professional and technical standards. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Inspection Division, Office of Security Programs. This position(s) primary purpose is to conduct examinations for various DEA offices that includes, but are not limited to, pre-employment screening of all Special Agent and Intelligence Research Specialists, screening of candidate for selection and placement; and testing suspects, witnesses, and confidential sources in support of criminal and asset forfeiture investigations.
