Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Minimum Qualifications GS-04: General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as 1.) providing day to day clerical support utilizing Office software such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; 2.) filing electronic and paper documents according to an establish filing system; 3.) taking and delivering messages received by phone or in person; and/or 4.) maintaining a calendar and ensuring there are no scheduling conflicts. -OR- Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. Minimum Qualifications GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Providing day to day clerical support utilizing Office software such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; 2.) maintaining and updating spreadsheets utilized for various tracking purposes; 3.) Scheduling appointments, conference calls, and/or meetings on an electronic calendar and/or 4.) monitoring office supply levels to identify items that are low in stock and require replenishment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). -OR- Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Minimum Qualifications GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) entering payroll data into an automated system, 2.) processing travel requests and/or reimbursement or similar type payment vouchers and billing invoices 3.) inputting, tracking or gathering data/information from various automated and non-automated systems. 4.) maintaining and tracking office property inventory, and/or 5.) reviewing business correspondence for proper formatting, spelling, and grammar. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-06, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone–no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
About the Position: The position will serve as an Administrative Support Assistant in the Engineering and Construction Division, Construction Branch, Vancouver Resident Office. The incumbent will perform a variety of administrative support duties in areas such as timekeeping, travel, training, records management, property accountability, vehicle fleet maintenance, and reports.
