SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER

Outside applicants claiming VEOA (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service) must meet (specialized experience) requirements equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: Managing training evolutions involving fire suppression, EMS operations, and response to hazardous materials incidents; Evaluating the performance in the delivery of basic life support and/or advanced life support including supervision of ground ambulance transportation service; leading others and working as member of a team to accomplish emergency and non-emergency objectives; making sound tactical decision-making and good judgment; demonstrating effective, professional, and outgoing customer service and interaction with the command, the general public and stakeholders; delivering accurate, effective, and professional oral and written communications, particularly internal communications, procedures and correspondence; Operating as a team member in group instruction and certification initiatives such as regional fire academy’s and agency group instructional needs. Applicants who are current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service employees must meet specialized experience requirements equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer I/II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, D/O Pumper, D/O Aerial, Marine Firefighter (JEB LITTLE CREEK), Airport Firefighter (NAVAL AIR STATION OCEANA), HAZMAT IC, NREMT, and CPR. The following certification, if not already held, must be obtained within 12 months of hire as mandatory condition of position: D/O Aerial, HAZMAT Technician, and Marine Firefighter.
