TRIAL ATTORNEY

The position will be filled under the General Schedule (GS) pay system at the GS-14 or GS-15 levels, depending on the qualifications of the successful applicant, and will have a full performance level of GS-15. To be eligible for selection at the GS-14 level, the successful applicant must have a minimum of three-and-one-half years of recent and relevant professional legal experience. To be eligible for selection at the GS-15 level, the successful applicant must have a minimum of five-and-a-half years of recent and relevant professional legal experience. Candidates will be evaluated on the following: 1) recent and relevant litigation experience (2) government contract law/litigation or complex commercial or construction litigation (3) excellence in legal analysis and written and oral communication skills; and (4) ability to work cooperatively and effectively on difficult tasks under time pressure with people of diverse interests. Candidates must have graduated from a law school that is accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
