SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR OF MANAGEMENT

Position may be filled as a term appointment Not-To-Exceed (2) years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience that includes developing guidance and interpreting policy for an organization; executing short and long-term special projects; overseeing analytical studies involving key agency programs identifying the nature of the issues or problems to be studied, and determining the scope and depth of the study; distinguishing the intent of legislation and policy statements, in order to determining how to translate the intent into program actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Leadership Strategic Thinking Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
About the Position: Serves under the general direction of the Director of the Army Staff (DAS) who provides for the integration, synchronization, and coordination of Army policy, plans, positions, procedures and cross functional issues for Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA).
