To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/29/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-14 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. Note: You must submit a copy of your most recent personnel action/SF-50. Additionally, An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Individual Occupational Requirements: Basic Education Requirements: You must first meet Basic Education Requirements for this position as described below.(Transcripts are REQUIRED) Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-13 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Initiating policies, procedures, and organizational structures necessary to achieve the stipulated goals. Planning, developing, and directing the complex scientific and administrative activities necessary to advance the program. Observing and evaluating the performance of principal investigators and their staff, conducting work performance critiques, and providing formal or informal feedback. This position serves as a Supervisory Health Science Specialist (Deputy Associate Chief of Staff; Deputy ACOS/R&D) established within the Office of the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Research and Development (R&D) in the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS). The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the establishment, review, and coordination of policies and procedures pertaining to strategic planning and compliance oversight for Research and Development.
