About the Role
The Clinical Operations Specialist will conduct comprehensive medical chart reviews and perform clinical validation of artificial intelligence diagnostic models used to support clinical documentation improvement.
This position plays an important role in ensuring that diagnostic models produce clinically accurate, reliable, and high-quality recommendations. The work supports a clinical AI platform designed to interpret electronic health record data, improve documentation accuracy, strengthen quality metrics, reduce denials, support revenue cycle operations, and help healthcare organizations capture the full value of the patient care they provide.
What You’ll Do
- Review and analyze medical records in a timely manner to verify clinical accuracy.
- Conduct comprehensive chart reviews and clinically validate AI-supported diagnostic models.
- Identify opportunities to improve clinical documentation practices and diagnostic model performance.
- Apply applicable medical coding guidelines, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes based on the information contained in medical records.
- Evaluate complex clinical information to determine whether documentation accurately supports diagnoses and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to remain current with clinical documentation and medical coding guidelines.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that strengthen documentation practices.
- Help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery through accurate clinical review and documentation support.
- Manage multiple assignments, prioritize competing responsibilities, and complete reviews within established timelines.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with other team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or another related medical field.
- At least two years of healthcare experience, preferably in a clinical setting and in a clinical documentation or medical coding role.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare documentation requirements.
- Understanding of medical coding guidelines, regulations, diagnoses, and procedure coding.
- Professional certification such as Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is preferred but not required.
- Experience using electronic medical record systems and other computer applications.
