About the Opportunity
This remote opportunity is for a talented, detail-oriented Compliance Analyst who will provide administrative support, research, and oversight related to surplus lines tax laws, statutes, processes, and system updates.
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Analyst will serve as a key liaison between the Compliance and Product teams, coordinating and executing technical projects while maintaining accurate system settings and documentation.
The role is well suited for someone who works effectively at the intersection of compliance, data, technology, and process improvement and who is enthusiastic about using AI tools to improve speed, accuracy, organization, and efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Compliance and Product teams, coordinating and executing technical system projects and updates.
- Manage and maintain internal system settings to ensure accuracy and alignment with compliance requirements.
- Research, track, and maintain state laws and regulations, using AI tools to accelerate compliance research and identify relevant insights more efficiently.
- Prepare compliance reports and present regulatory and compliance updates to leadership.
- Ensure compliance requirements are met across all states and jurisdictions.
- Assist with implementing training related to regulatory changes.
- Coordinate and execute project plan activities, including scheduling meetings, organizing documentation, tracking milestones, and following up on action items.
- Respond promptly to Jira tickets from internal and external customers and coordinate with customer service and cross-functional teams on escalated client issues.
- Provide high-quality customer service by building and maintaining strong relationships with states, carriers, and clients.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in written and verbal communications.
- Support customers with technical issues from initial contact through troubleshooting, issue resolution, and follow-up.
- Create, maintain, and regularly audit SOPs and documentation within Confluence Workspace to ensure filing processes and procedures remain accurate and current.
- Use AI tools to create compliance workflows, draft documentation, and support daily planning, organization, and communication.
- Participate in cross-departmental initiatives focused on automating tasks and workflows.
- Support the Compliance Manager and VP of Tax Compliance with ad hoc requests and special projects.
- Stay current on compliance trends, regulatory developments, and emerging AI tools through continuous learning, professional development, and industry engagement.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
- 2+ years of experience in surplus lines filing, accounting, or compliance.
- Comprehensive understanding of surplus lines compliance requirements across all 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories.
- 2+ years of experience in project management or process coordination.
- Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Confluence, and Jira.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or similar platforms in daily workflows for research, documentation, planning, and communication.
- Enthusiasm for adopting emerging AI technologies and contributing to automation and process improvement initiatives.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- High level of professionalism in written and verbal interactions.
- Industry certification such as SILA, ASLI, ARC, CPCU, or an equivalent certification is preferred.
