About the Role
This opportunity is for a Staff Data Analyst who will provide high-impact analytical support to operations, product, and leadership teams. The role focuses on understanding and optimizing business growth, margin, retention, and other key performance areas through advanced analytics, exploratory analysis, lightweight reporting tools, and direct strategic partnership with senior leaders.
This is not a traditional dashboard-only BI role. The Staff Data Analyst will act as a strategic analytical advisor, helping executive and senior leadership teams translate complex data into clear recommendations and measurable business actions.
The role relies heavily on Python, SQL, Jupyter Notebooks, Streamlit, dbt, and cloud data warehouses. Modern AI-assisted development and workflow automation are also integrated into day-to-day analytical work to increase the speed, accuracy, and depth of analysis while maintaining strong data quality and analytical judgment.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a trusted analytical advisor to senior leadership and executive management, translating complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Partner across business units to help leadership make data-informed decisions and drive changes in business strategy.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve business performance, increase efficiency, and capture untapped value.
- Work directly with cross-functional teams to turn identified analytical opportunities into measurable business outcomes.
- Perform deep exploratory data analysis using Jupyter Notebooks to diagnose business trends, test complex hypotheses, and identify meaningful relationships in the data.
- Build and maintain lightweight, interactive reporting tools using Python and Streamlit.
- Create high-impact Google Sheets connected directly to BigQuery to deliver self-service reporting within business teams’ existing workflows.
- Integrate modern AI-assisted technologies and secure workflow automation into analytical processes.
- Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate code generation, improve SQL queries, support debugging, and automate repetitive data exploration tasks while maintaining appropriate controls and analytical oversight.
- Gather, clean, transform, and model data from multiple sources using Python, SQL, and dbt.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability across analytical datasets and outputs.
- Participate in peer reviews of SQL queries, Python scripts, analytical methodologies, and other analytical deliverables.
- Maintain high standards for analytical quality, statistical validation, and reproducibility.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in a highly analytical, decision science, or advanced business intelligence role.
- Demonstrated experience directly influencing senior management and executive decision-making through data and analytics.
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills with the confidence to advise, challenge, and collaborate with cross-functional leaders.
- Strong Python skills, including hands-on experience with Pandas and NumPy for data manipulation, visualization, and analysis.
- Experience building lightweight data applications using Streamlit.
- Strong SQL proficiency for advanced analytical work and data transformation.
- Experience using dbt for data modeling.
- Experience working with cloud data warehouse platforms such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar technologies.
- Expert-level experience using Jupyter Notebooks for structured exploratory data analysis and statistical validation.
- Demonstrated experience using modern, secure AI tools and developer workflow automation to improve coding, debugging, and analytical processes.
- Experience using Google Sheets connected directly to cloud data warehouses for business-facing reporting.
- Strong understanding of consumer technology business metrics, including customer lifetime value, retention, customer acquisition cost, annual recurring revenue, margin, and cohort analysis.
- Familiarity with secure data handling practices and customer data privacy requirements.
- Proven ability to identify a business problem or opportunity, translate it into an analytical approach, and drive the work through to a measurable business result.
- Experience using Git for version control and collaborative code development.
