About the Role
As the first dedicated People Operations Generalist, this role will support the employee experience and day-to-day People Operations foundation across the full employee lifecycle. Reporting directly to the VP of People, the position will manage HRIS data, onboarding operations, documentation, policies, total rewards administration, compliance, and internal culture programs while helping build and scale efficient People processes for a remote workforce.
The role combines hands-on HR operations with data-informed decision-making, strong emotional intelligence, and modern HR technology. Key areas include Rippling, Lattice, AI productivity tools such as Gemini, workflow automation, federal and multi-state employment laws, and the development of clear, scalable operating procedures.
What You'll Do
- Manage employee lifecycle and onboarding operations across a multi-state remote workforce.
- Maintain HRIS data integrity, including accurate employee records and lifecycle status changes.
- Map, document, and maintain clear standard operating procedures and employee handbooks across People Operations.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement modern automations and AI-driven workflows to streamline recurring HR tasks.
- Support the administration of total rewards, workplace policies, and wellness initiatives for a remote-first workforce.
- Maintain operational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, multi-state remote-work requirements, and documentation standards.
- Support internal culture initiatives, peer recognition programs, and remote team connection while reinforcing values centered on optimism, accountability, thoughtfulness, and well-being.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of equivalent practical experience in a multi-state, remote work environment.
- Hands-on experience managing modern HR technology platforms such as Rippling and Lattice.
- Comfort using modern AI productivity tools, including Gemini, to automate workflows, draft communications, and improve operational processes.
- Practical knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and FLSA, along with multi-state compliance considerations for remote employees.
- Clear and thoughtful communication skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a remote team.
- Adaptability, solution-building skills, and the ability to make data-informed decisions.
- Ability to work remotely from anywhere within the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in HR technology, employee benefits, or a SaaS platform environment, with knowledge of benefits brokerages considered an advantage.
- SHRM-SP, PHR, or an equivalent HR certification.
- Project management experience and familiarity with lightweight project management tools such as Jira or Monday.com.
