About the Role
The Head of Communications will lead editorial and communications strategy, translating business priorities into clear narratives, communications programs, executive platforms, and market-facing initiatives. The role owns corporate messaging, executive communications, PR strategy, editorial direction, thought leadership, analyst relations, and integrated communications designed to strengthen reputation, support commercial growth, and reinforce leadership in physical AI and intelligent retail.
This position works closely with senior executives, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Design, Strategy & Scaling, PR partners, customers, industry analysts, media, investors, advisors, industry associations, and policy organizations. The role requires exceptional writing and editorial judgment, strong business acumen, and the ability to translate complex technologies into compelling narratives for diverse external audiences.
What You'll Do
Narrative & Messaging- Partner with the SVP of Market to define key storylines and messaging architecture that support business goals, go-to-market strategy, and the broader corporate narrative.
- Serve as editor-in-chief for corporate and executive communications, ensuring launches, campaigns, announcements, research reports, and other public-facing assets reinforce a consistent narrative.
- Identify and develop new narrative opportunities based on market trends, customer success, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies, including proactive workforce narratives that elevate retail work.
- Work with cross-functional partners to translate competitive positioning and category strategy into compelling external narratives across communications programs.
- Develop executive communications strategies, messaging, and platforms for company executives, Strategic Advisory Board members, Board members, partners, and customer executives.
- Own the thought leadership content calendar and partner closely with Product Marketing to turn the broader editorial calendar into owned and earned thought leadership opportunities.
- Partner with the SVP of Market, PR agency, and key executives to increase executive visibility through speaking engagements, media interviews, podcasts, contributed content, social media, and cross-channel amplification.
- Own annual and quarterly communications planning and manage the PR agency to ensure programs align with business priorities and go-to-market objectives.
- Lead integrated communications programs for major company milestones, coordinating across the business to maximize impact through earned, owned, executive, customer, investor, advisor, and partner communications.
- Set communications priorities with the PR agency to increase visibility across media, analysts, awards, conferences, and executive platforms.
- Expand the analyst relations program and strengthen relationships with leading industry analysts.
- Support executive media preparation, messaging, and crisis communications as needed.
- Own the integrated editorial calendar across earned, owned, executive, and customer communications.
- Lead social strategy and the customer storytelling program in partnership with Customer Success, Strategy & Scaling, Sales, Product Marketing, Design, and client communications teams.
- Work across marketing to package major announcements into reusable communications toolkits that enable commercial and executive teams to activate stories across earned, owned, and customer-facing channels.
- Maintain editorial quality, consistency, and strategic alignment across all external communications.
- Lead shopper education, influencer engagement, and the Robot Ambassador Program while expanding relationships with retailers, partners, industry associations, and standards organizations.
- Manage resourcing for the public affairs program and partner with industry and policy organizations to increase visibility on Capitol Hill and across the United States.
- Support initiatives that strengthen the organization's reputation as a category leader shaping the future of intelligent retail.
Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience leading corporate communications, executive communications, public relations, or content strategy.
- Experience building communications programs within a high-growth B2B technology company, preferably in enterprise software, AI, robotics, or a related industry.
- Proven success partnering with executive teams to shape corporate narratives, executive platforms, product launches, customer announcements, and thought leadership.
- Experience managing PR agencies, analyst relations, media relationships, and cross-functional communications programs.
- Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to quickly understand complex technologies and translate them into compelling market narratives.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience helping define or scale an emerging technology category.
- Existing relationships with business, retail, and technology media as well as leading industry analysts.
- Experience supporting enterprise customer communications, public affairs, and executive communications during periods of rapid growth.
- Familiarity with retail, AI, robotics, supply chain, or enterprise software.

- Develop company announcements that generate inbound retailer interest and sustained engagement across media, customers, executives, investors, partners, and employees.

- Deliver communications programs that measurably contribute to commercial growth, recruiting, and brand reputation.
- Establish Communications as a strategic partner relied upon by Marketing, Commercial, and Executive teams to strengthen major initiatives.
