About the Role
The Creative Director (Performance Media) leads the development of high-performing creative across paid media channels while owning the creative relationship with assigned clients. This role translates business objectives into scalable, testable creative strategies and guides work from ideation through execution, iteration, and performance evaluation.
The position works closely with media buying, creative production, and leadership teams across Meta, Google, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest, X, YouTube, Bing, Outbrain, Taboola, and other paid media platforms. The role combines creative strategy, direct response thinking, production direction, AI-assisted creative development, performance analytics, client presentations, and creative team leadership.
What You'll Do
Client Ownership & Creative Leadership- Own the creative relationship with assigned clients and serve as the primary creative partner from strategy through execution.
- Translate client business objectives into clear, performance-driven creative strategies aligned with media goals.
- Present creative concepts, performance insights, and strategic recommendations to clients and internal leadership.
- Lead creative ideation informed by audience insights, platform trends, brand understanding, and performance data.
- Develop scalable creative angles, hooks, and messaging frameworks designed for rapid testing and iteration.
- Stay current on emerging creative, design, and storytelling trends across social and performance media.
- Proactively recommend new creative approaches that improve performance and drive business outcomes while maintaining brand guidelines.
- Oversee creative development across paid media channels, including social, display, video, native, shopping, and search.
- Use modern AI tools to accelerate ideation, scripting, asset creation, and first-pass concepts while maintaining brand safety and creative quality.
- Provide clear production direction through creative briefs, scripts, shot lists, and storyboards.
- Guide rapid creative iteration and optimization through cutdowns, re-edits, new hooks, static assets, and alternate formats to support testing goals.
- Partner with media buying teams to align creative strategy with media plans, testing frameworks, and performance insights.
- Measure and evaluate creative performance and connect creative decisions to measurable outcomes.
- Lead and mentor creative team members in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Evaluate and elevate visual creative work when relevant, drawing on design experience where applicable.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 5+ years of performance marketing experience.
- 5+ years of direct response copywriting experience.
- Experience leading creative teams and presenting creative work, insights, and recommendations to senior-level clients.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Meta and Google platforms, creative testing methodologies, and performance analytics.
- Proficiency with modern AI tools for creative development, including tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and generative video platforms such as Veo 3 or equivalent.
- Ability to develop performance-driven creative strategies based on business objectives, media goals, audience insights, platform trends, and performance data.
- Ability to direct creative production through briefs, scripts, shot lists, storyboards, and rapid creative iteration.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Design experience is a plus, including an understanding of creative tools and platforms such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
