About the Role

This opportunity is for an AI Solutions Engineer focused on designing, building, and scaling practical AI solutions for client-facing digital products. The role combines hands-on software engineering with AI architecture, technical leadership, rapid prototyping, and production implementation across large language models, RAG-based systems, APIs, data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and event-driven architectures.

The position works directly with clients and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business goals into sustainable technical solutions. Strong experience with Python or JavaScript, LLMs, RAG architecture, data engineering, full-stack development, Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps, API design, and modern scalable software architecture is central to the role.

What You'll Do

• Work directly with clients to understand business goals for implementing AI technologies, present sustainable and achievable technical solutions, and adjust technical strategies based on feedback.
• Provide AI expertise to internal and client engineering teams by establishing technical standards, conducting code reviews, mentoring engineers, and contributing to product vision.
• Run technical spikes and rapid R&D efforts to evaluate emerging technologies, methods, and implementation approaches.
• Lead the design of robust software and AI architectures tailored to client needs while implementing solutions hands-on with scalability and maintainability in mind.
• Design, develop, and integrate APIs, data pipelines, and end-to-end infrastructure that enable reliable communication between systems.
• Optimize technical systems so AI models can be effectively integrated, scaled, maintained, and used in production environments.
• Apply engineering expertise across varied project needs, including API design, real-time technical support, and DevOps.
• Collaborate across backend engineering, frontend engineering, design, and other disciplines to coordinate technical implementation and product delivery.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• 7–10 years of software engineering experience, preferably within a consulting environment or an in-house cross-functional product team.
• Full-stack engineering experience across web or native mobile applications.
• Demonstrated experience architecting, building, maintaining, and scaling modern software across multiple platforms.
• Data engineering experience sufficient to support successful AI implementations.
• Experience designing APIs and writing API specifications.
• Experience working directly with clients, managing expectations, and explaining advanced technical concepts and their implications.

Required Skills

• Practical experience with Python and/or JavaScript, Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps, Large Language Models (LLMs), RAG Architecture, and event-driven architectures.
• Ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable software and AI architectures while contributing hands-on to production code.
• Strong understanding of data pipelines, APIs, infrastructure integration, and the technical foundations required to operationalize AI models.
• Ability to clearly articulate technical requirements to engineers and communicate architectural decisions across technical teams.
• Strong security awareness with the ability to identify potential technical risks during architecture and implementation.
• Excellent client-facing communication skills and the ability to present and defend technical and architectural decisions persuasively.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with strong personal discipline and organizational ability.
• Ability to adapt quickly to unfamiliar technologies and varied project requirements.
• Commitment to continuous professional growth and strong software engineering craftsmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong technical diagramming or illustration skills.
• Experience speaking, writing, or educating publicly about technical topics.
• Experience independently building and publicly releasing personal products or applications.
• Hands-on interest in TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, or training machine learning models from scratch.
• Experience with advanced prompt engineering techniques.
• Interest or experience with emerging languages and platforms such as Go, Rust, Alexa, and Unity.

Candidates should be comfortable with occasional travel to headquarters in Minnesota.
