About the Role
This VP of Engineering opportunity focuses on providing strategic and technical leadership across one or more software product lines within the real estate technology sector. The position oversees engineering teams, software development execution, technology planning, and product delivery while aligning engineering priorities with broader business objectives. Key responsibilities include developing engineering talent, managing resources and budgets, establishing technical standards, and delivering reliable software products on schedule.
The role also drives the adoption of AI-powered engineering tools, development automation, modern software architectures, and cloud technologies. It requires close coordination with product management, design, operations, executive leadership, clients, and external partners to support product innovation, engineering efficiency, quality assurance, and long-term technology strategy.
What You'll Do
- Define and communicate the strategic technology vision for engineering teams, ensuring engineering initiatives support organizational goals and product priorities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering organization, promoting technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Direct the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering and development planning through implementation, testing, deployment, and delivery of high-quality software products.
- Drive the adoption of AI-powered development tools and automation throughout the SDLC, including AI-assisted code generation, automated code review, intelligent testing, quality assurance, and CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Use engineering automation and AI-assisted workflows to increase development velocity, improve code quality, streamline delivery processes, and reduce manual engineering overhead.
- Develop and execute a long-term technology roadmap aligned with business strategy, product direction, and emerging technology opportunities.
- Evaluate and apply modern software architectures, cloud technologies, and relevant engineering innovations to strengthen product capabilities and technical competitiveness.
- Partner with product management, design, and operations teams to coordinate engineering priorities, requirements, development schedules, and product delivery objectives.
- Implement and improve Agile software development practices, including Scrum and Kanban, to strengthen development efficiency, collaboration, and responsiveness to changing requirements.
- Manage engineering resource allocation across personnel, infrastructure, and budgets, balancing project priorities, technical requirements, delivery timelines, and business objectives.
- Oversee engineering recruitment, talent acquisition, and retention initiatives to build and sustain a skilled, diverse, and inclusive engineering organization.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, professional development, and career advancement opportunities to strengthen individual capabilities and engineering leadership effectiveness.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce engineering standards, software development best practices, technical quality controls, and processes supporting reliable software delivery.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, operational, and security risks associated with engineering projects, software platforms, and product development activities.
- Engage internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, clients, and business partners, to understand requirements, resolve concerns, and align engineering decisions with business needs.
- Monitor developments in software engineering, emerging technologies, and real estate technology to identify opportunities for product innovation, process improvement, and competitive differentiation.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years of progressive professional experience in software development.
- At least 5+ years of engineering leadership experience managing software engineering teams.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex software products within established schedules and budgets.
- Proven experience building, leading, mentoring, and managing high-performing engineering teams while encouraging innovation, collaboration, and customer-focused development.
- Experience translating business objectives into actionable technology strategies, engineering priorities, and development initiatives.
- Practical experience implementing Agile software development methodologies and improving engineering delivery practices.
- Demonstrated experience applying AI-powered tools and automation to software development workflows, including AI-assisted coding, automated testing, and CI/CD pipeline automation.
Required Skills

Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
