About the Role
This opportunity is for a Senior Security Engineer responsible for improving the accuracy, timeliness, and overall quality of AI-powered security investigations. The role combines hands-on security engineering, detection and response expertise, and production Python development to build and maintain investigation workflows, integrate security tools, and improve automated threat analysis. A primary responsibility is ensuring that an AI SOC Analyst produces reliable investigation reports while continuously improving detection and investigation capabilities.
The position involves developing security investigation logic and pipelines, analyzing AI-generated investigations, resolving product issues, and translating findings into technical improvements. The successful candidate will contribute directly to a Python codebase, influence architecture and product direction, collaborate with go-to-market and customer success teams, and provide technical leadership to other engineers. Experience with SOAR, threat hunting, security automation, and modern investigation techniques is central to this role.
What You'll Do
- Own the quality of AI-powered security investigations, ensuring accurate, timely, and actionable investigation reports.
- Develop and improve security investigation workflows that support automated alert analysis and threat detection.
- Build integrations with security tools to expand investigation capabilities and improve automated security operations.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and fix bugs affecting investigation workflows, security integrations, and product functionality.
- Develop and refine investigation logic and processing pipelines to support new categories of security alerts.
- Balance investigation accuracy, system performance, and long-term maintainability when designing and improving security workflows.
- Contribute production-quality Python code to implement security features, investigation improvements, and technical enhancements.
- Influence architectural decisions and long-term product strategy through hands-on security engineering expertise.
- Review and analyze investigations performed by AI systems to identify strengths, weaknesses, accuracy issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Translate investigation findings and technical analysis into product enhancements that improve security detection and response capabilities.
- Collaborate with go-to-market and customer success teams to understand defender needs, influence technical direction, and prioritize impactful security features.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, supporting engineering quality and professional development.
- Periodically participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support operational security and product reliability.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 6+ years of professional experience in software development, security engineering, or a combination of both.
- Strong experience developing and maintaining production Python code.
- Substantial hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: writing security detections, working on a Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) team, participating in detection and response operations, conducting threat hunting, or building security tools and security products.
- Experience applying modern security practices and investigation techniques to real-world security engineering challenges.
Required Skills
- Strong Python programming skills, including the ability to contribute directly to production codebases and implement reliable technical improvements.
- Understanding of security detection and investigation techniques used to analyze alerts, identify threats, and support effective response.
- Knowledge of modern cybersecurity best practices and threat hunting methodologies.
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and improve security investigation workflows and automated detection logic.
- Technical understanding of security tooling, security products, or SOAR environments, supported by relevant hands-on experience.
- Ability to assess investigation quality, identify technical weaknesses, and translate findings into practical engineering improvements.
- Comfort working in an early-stage startup environment with evolving requirements and significant ambiguity.
- Ability to execute quickly, work independently, and turn ambiguous technical challenges into completed features that deliver measurable value.
