About the Role
This opportunity is for a Data Analyst (Entry-Level) to explore complex criminal justice datasets, conduct well-defined analyses, and develop clear visualizations that support efforts to address the drivers of incarceration. Working alongside experienced analysts and teammates across several teams, the position prepares analytical data for state-level product launches and helps assess how those products function and affect justice-system outcomes.
The role uses SQL and Python/Pandas to inspect, clean, and analyze real-world data. Sources include raw and processed criminal justice records from across the country, government reports, and policy documents. Findings are shared with internal teams and presented to state partners alongside teammates, with an emphasis on accuracy, clear explanations, and reusable analytical work.
What You'll Do
- Explore datasets to identify patterns and insights about American criminal justice systems.
- Carry out well-scoped analyses with guidance from senior analysts and the State Engagement team.
- Support product launches by following established launch processes and preparing the analytical data required for each product in each state.
- Identify and flag data discrepancies during launch preparation.
- Create clear, well-documented visualizations and dashboards using existing tools.
- Communicate analytical findings to internal teams and present results to state partners alongside teammates.
- Analyze trends related to the work to understand how products function and help measure their impact on the justice system.
- Develop knowledge of assigned states' data, policies, and products, building toward answering new analytical questions with greater independence and selecting appropriate tools.
