DevOps & Automation Engineer

This opportunity is for a DevOps & Automation Engineer to support secure software delivery, CI/CD automation, and DevSecOps practices within modernization programs. The role focuses on improving delivery pipelines, increasing reliability, reducing defects, and helping teams ship secure software more efficiently.
This position works closely with development, operations, and security teams to implement and support DevSecOps processes, pipeline tooling, automation practices, and security controls required in government contracting environments.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $113,000 – $135,000 annually, based on skills, experience, and scope of responsibility
Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain low-level security clearance
What You’ll Do
DevSecOps, CI/CD, and Automation
- Support DevSecOps efforts focused on continuous delivery, continuous testing, and improved productivity
- Assist with establishing CI/CD pipeline guidelines, standards, and strategies
- Communicate with development teams to ensure adherence to CI/CD guidelines and standard DevSecOps processes
- Support technical planning, configuration, integration, verification, and validation of the pipeline toolchain
- Implement automated methods to improve system performance and reliability, including scripting, integration, and issue resolution related to CI/CD tooling
- Quickly learn business workflows, technical architecture, and dependent systems for supported services
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DevSecOps practices as part of CI/CD implementation
- Troubleshoot pipeline issues and provide practical solutions
- Stay current with DevSecOps trends, tools, and best practices
- Contribute to continuous improvement of DevSecOps processes and tooling
- Support implementation of security measures throughout the CI/CD pipeline
- Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for DevSecOps processes and tools
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development or related technical fields
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience supporting DevOps or DevSecOps efforts to reengineer and automate the software development process
- Experience with DevSecOps techniques, continuous integration, continuous testing, and continuous deployment
- Proficiency with distributed source control tools such as Git
- Experience with dependency management tools
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or TFS
- Understanding of Pipeline as Code scripting technologies
- Experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube, Nexus IQ Server, or Fortify
- Hands-on experience integrating static code analysis tools into CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with open-source test automation tools such as Selenium
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience working on large software development programs using Agile methodology, preferably SAFe
- Experience implementing DevSecOps for cloud-based systems within modernization programs
- Knowledge of cloud service platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Experience with container orchestration using tools such as Docker Compose
- Familiarity with container management platforms such as OpenShift
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Knowledge of continuous monitoring tools such as ELK Stack, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Fluentd, or Kibana
- Relevant certifications in DevOps, cloud platforms, or security are preferred
