Base Salary Range: $163,000 – $225,000 per year
Compensation may vary based on job-related skills, experience, education, training, and location. Equity may be included as part of the total compensation package.
About the Role
This opportunity is for a Senior Data Scientist, Risk focused on identifying, measuring, mitigating, and managing financial and operational risks across digital product offerings. The role partners closely with engineering, data science, product, and operations teams to build scalable risk controls and support a secure, seamless user experience.
The position requires a highly analytical, data-driven professional who can work with large datasets, translate complex risk patterns into clear recommendations, and help shape risk strategy in a fast-paced fintech environment.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze and Assess Risk: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, transaction patterns, and user behavior to identify and assess potential credit, fraud, and compliance risks.
- Develop and Implement Risk Controls: Partner with product, engineering, and data science teams to design, build, and deploy automated risk controls and decisioning systems that balance user experience with platform safety.
- Contribute to Strategic Planning: Provide insights and recommendations to leadership on risk trends, policy improvements, and long-term risk strategy to support business growth and expansion.
- Optimize Processes: Identify opportunities to improve existing risk management processes and workflows, and lead initiatives that increase efficiency and scalability.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in analytics or data science.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work with large datasets and derive actionable insights.
- Experience using SQL, Python, and other analytical software.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex risk issues and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience influencing and partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
- Previous fintech experience is a plus.
- Previous startup experience is a plus.
- Prior experience in risk within fintech or financial services is a plus.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
