About the Role
This role supports research and data modernization efforts by collecting, maintaining, validating, and improving critical fire incident data. The Fire Data Coordinator will help maintain data integrity, improve database workflows, support reporting needs, and develop more efficient processes for collecting, managing, and using incident data.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct independent research using advanced search tools and methods to identify and validate fire incident data nationwide.
- Maintain and oversee data integrity across assigned datasets and systems.
- Support research initiatives by converting manual or legacy processes into more efficient digital workflows and systems.
- Communicate with fire departments, emergency response agencies, and other stakeholders to obtain, verify, and maintain accurate incident and survey data.
- Coordinate survey processes, including survey design support, distribution tracking, response management, quality control, and stakeholder communication.
- Create and maintain tables, charts, dashboards, and data visualizations to support reporting and research initiatives.
- Pull complex datasets using SQL.
- Collaborate with analysts and research staff on special projects, reporting requests, and operational initiatives.
Qualifications
- Ability to validate and maintain accurate data with strong attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- 2-3 years of work experience with data management, data entry, and relational databases.
- Ability to consult with stakeholders across the country to obtain and verify information.
- Ability to perform basic to intermediate SQL queries.
- Ability and willingness to learn current technology and data standards.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Power BI.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of relational databases, normalization, and schema design.
- Fire service background is a plus but not required.
