About the Role

This opportunity is for a Senior Applied AI Engineer to design, build, and scale the systems that power AI across a modern SaaS platform. The role focuses on developing reliable, production-ready AI infrastructure and frameworks that enable engineers to build high-quality AI features powered by large language models.

You will help shape AI architecture, model usage, system evolution, and engineering best practices while working on practical AI applications deployed in production. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable AI systems, and driving technical excellence across AI-powered products.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement scalable AI services and supporting infrastructure that enable AI-powered product capabilities across the platform.
• Develop solutions that evaluate and improve the quality of large language model (LLM) outputs.
• Build frameworks and internal tooling that accelerate AI feature development across the engineering organization.
• Develop and maintain systems supporting model tuning, evaluation, and optimization.
• Contribute directly to the deployment, operational stability, and long-term reliability of AI services in production environments.
• Optimize AI services for latency, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Partner with technical leadership to evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend architecture, model selection, and system design approaches.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers developing AI-powered features while promoting engineering best practices and scalable development patterns.
• Contribute to technical architecture discussions related to AI systems, platform capabilities, and future product evolution.

• Establish reliable systems supporting AI-powered product capabilities within the first 90 days.
• Improve the performance, consistency, and reliability of AI-generated outputs.
• Enable faster experimentation and iteration across AI product development initiatives.
• Help establish engineering standards and development practices that allow teams to build AI-powered features more efficiently.
• Demonstrate strong technical leadership and ownership of AI system design and implementation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including strong backend or distributed systems development.
• Strong Python programming experience.
• Experience designing and building backend services or distributed systems.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs, generative AI services, or AI-enabled capabilities into production environments.
• Experience evaluating and improving AI model performance in production systems.
• Strong systems design, architecture, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with FastAPI or similar backend frameworks.
• Experience with model fine-tuning, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt evaluation, or LLM evaluation methodologies.
• Experience building internal tools or infrastructure that support AI applications.
• Experience working with vector databases or AI data pipelines.
• Experience working in fintech or B2B SaaS environments.
