Compensation and Work Details
Status: Full-time
Salary Range: $170,000-$300,000 per year
Compensation Note: Final compensation depends on the candidate’s location and the level at which they are hired.
About the Role
This opportunity is for a Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack to build and scale AI-native software that automates complex mortgage workflows. The role combines full-stack product development, distributed systems, infrastructure, data architecture, third-party integrations, and mission-critical AI agents.
You will own complex initiatives from architecture through production deployment, contribute across frontend and backend systems, and help improve the reliability, observability, security, and scalability of a high-throughput cloud platform.
What You’ll Do
AI Product Development
- Architect, build, and launch complex, multi-step AI agents that automate operational workflows.
- Develop reliable AI-driven systems using evaluation frameworks, experiment design, dataset curation, and other modern AI product development practices.
- Transform non-deterministic LLM behavior into dependable, mission-critical product capabilities.
Full-Stack Engineering
- Design and develop full-stack web application features from initial product design through deployment.
- Build responsive frontend experiences using React and TypeScript.
- Develop scalable backend services using Node.js, Express, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Apollo.
- Share strongly typed TypeScript code across frontend, backend, and other packages within a monorepo.
- Create readable, maintainable, and effective architecture patterns that support enterprise customers.
Integrations and Data Systems
- Integrate with third-party lending service APIs for document generation, disclosures, automated underwriting, fraud prevention, and related workflows.
- Design and scale complex PostgreSQL schemas containing large volumes of detailed loan data.
- Develop performant approaches for storing, retrieving, and updating complex relational data.
- Use generated TypeScript types from PostgreSQL and GraphQL schemas to maintain end-to-end type safety.
Cloud Infrastructure and Reliability
- Architect, build, and launch cloud-based job processing infrastructure on AWS.
- Improve backend observability, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Build and operate distributed systems using AWS services including ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, Kafka, and Elasticsearch.
- Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Support automated deployment of temporary staging environments for pull requests.
- Apply an SRE-oriented mindset to create infrastructure that is reliable, observable, and requires minimal maintenance.
Testing, Security, and Quality
- Use production-like test data and automated end-to-end, integration, and performance testing utilities.
- Maintain a strong focus on application security and the protection of sensitive personal data.
- Balance engineering speed with reliability, maintainability, and high system availability.
- Contribute product ideas and consider the broader user and business impact of technical decisions.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead mission-critical engineering projects and contribute to technical direction.
- Collaborate across product and engineering functions to deliver scalable, user-focused solutions.
- Mentor less experienced engineers in technical and professional skills.
- Communicate openly about technical decisions, challenges, outcomes, and lessons learned.

Qualifications
- Experience architecting and delivering complex full-stack web application features from design through deployment.
- Strong TypeScript experience across frontend and backend systems.
- Experience building modern frontend applications with React.
- Experience developing backend services with Node.js, Express, GraphQL, and Apollo.
- Experience designing and integrating third-party APIs.
- Experience building scalable relational database schemas and optimizing complex data access patterns.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or comparable relational database technologies.
- Experience building and scaling distributed systems in cloud environments.
- Experience with AWS infrastructure and containerized applications.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong understanding of system reliability, observability, security, and maintainability.
- Ability to build readable, maintainable software architecture for enterprise use cases.
- Product-oriented mindset with the ability to consider user experience and business outcomes.
- Interest in mentoring less experienced engineers.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with modern AI product development lifecycles, including evaluations, experiment design, and dataset curation.
- Experience building reliable, multi-step AI agents or other LLM-powered systems.
- Experience scaling high-throughput distributed systems.
- Strong security awareness when working with sensitive personal or financial data.
- SRE-oriented experience building highly observable and low-maintenance infrastructure.
