In-Person Meetings: Quarterly in-person meetings in the Washington, D.C. area are required.
Annual Base Salary Range: $118,000 – $140,000 per year
About the Role
This opportunity is for a Senior Data Scientist who will use advanced SQL and Python expertise to modernize data strategies, perform complex analysis, and deliver actionable insights. The role supports analytical work involving large-scale datasets, statistical modeling, data visualization, and structured and unstructured data.
The position requires a highly skilled data professional who can own multiple high-priority projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and clearly communicate technical findings to senior leaders, client stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.
What You’ll Do
- Infrastructure and Data Lifecycle: Develop and implement databases and data collection systems that acquire information from primary and secondary sources.
- SQL Model Documentation: Document SQL models to support efficient, consistent, and maintainable data management.
- Advanced Analytics: Perform comprehensive data manipulation, data wrangling, and exploratory data analysis to identify and interpret complex trends within large-scale datasets.
- Strategic Decision Support: Use statistical software and modeling techniques to produce synthesized, actionable insights that inform decisions made by senior leadership and client stakeholders.
- Storytelling and Communication: Present complex technical findings to non-technical domain users through advanced data visualizations, briefings, and executive-level slide presentations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multidisciplinary teams to extract, analyze, and translate insights from structured and unstructured data sources.
- Project Execution: Own and manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics.
- A Master’s degree or completion of a data science boot camp is a plus.
- Five or more years of experience in a data science role.
- Experience in federal financial regulatory environments, such as Treasury, or in government contracting is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, including Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
- Advanced SQL expertise, including the ability to architect and modify complex code within relational database management systems.
- Strong experience using data warehousing solutions to query and extract insights from high-volume, large-scale datasets.
- Understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics and regression modeling.
- Ability to use generative AI technologies, including large language models and agent-based coding tools, to automate workflows.
- Expertise with data science technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, natural language processing tools, R, SAS, Plotly, and NoSQL.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI and Excel.
- Experience with Palantir products is a plus.
- Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
