Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Screen-out Element: Ability To Lead Or Supervise 3 or more other workers in maintenance mechanic positions completing the following tasks: Assign work to subordinate staff, plan and distribute workload, inspect work in progress, train or instruct subordinate staff, and report to supervisor on status progress of work, initiate disciplinary actions for insubordinate behavior, initiate requests for personnel actions such as promotions and recruitment. Additional examples include: working independently in a wide range of maintenance activities, ensure maintenance and/or facility operations are carried out in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures. Use and apply standard building techniques, practices, and codes, read and understand blueprints, sketches and schematics, read and understand work orders in order to complete assigned work. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Incumbent serves as the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor in the Facilities Department located at the Whiteriver Service Unit. Incumbent exercises full supervisory responsibility for control over work operation. When not performing supervisory duties, incumbent will perform trades work as a working supervisor. Incumbent is supervised thru Supv Facility Operations Specialist.
