At the GS-09 level: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 in the Federal service as a budget analyst or directly related position. Examples of specialized experience may include: Perform routine technical and administrative support to an organization regarding the budget. Interpret discrepancies and resolve budgetary issues. Assist in budget formulation, budget execution, and budget analysis for an organization; OR a master’s or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above. At the GS-11 level: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 in the Federal service as a budget analyst or in a directly related position. Specialized experience is further defined as: Executing and monitoring budget contributing to technical and administrative support to an organization in relation to budget; perform budget formulation, execution, and budget analysis and reporting for an organization. Experience formulating, executing, and monitoring budget for an organization; OR completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctors degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, -or- LL.M., if related; OR an equivalent combination of the education and specialized experience described above. Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate/ graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: The work is principally sedentary with a moderate amount of standing and walking. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. Occasional travel may be required. The incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or designated by the Safety Officer.
