Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-06 Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Processing phones calls such as: non-emergency and emergency calls; 2) Operating dispatching equipment while communicating with callers, and 3) Monitoring alarms to initiate appropriate responses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which involves operating multi-line telephones, computers or radio equipment to provide information to callers; obtaining detailed information from callers and inputting data collected into databases and software systems; communicating orally to a wide range of people to obtain and provide information; and complying with standard operating procedures in a fast-paced and changing environment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). In addition to the requirement above, this position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Decision Making Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). About the Position: Serve as a Public Safety Telecommunicator for dispatching Fire, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), and Law Enforcement (LE) responders, monitoring alarms and activating Mass Notification Systems in Army Garrison Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) / 911 Centers.
