Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Hazardous Waste Disposer (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision. I can identify all hazardous waste/material in accordance with applicable environmental regulations, federal and state guidelines; ensure all drums/containers are marked/label contents and ensure all required documentation is attached to drums/containers for transportation. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work regularly requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing and working in uncomfortable positions in the storage area and at waste/spill sites. Lifts and moves items weighing up to 50 pounds, and uses handling equipment or assistance to lift heavier items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Is exposed to the possibility of asphyxiation and chemical burns from toxic fumes and spills of waste materials. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, broken bones, sprains, falls, etc. during on-site work and inspections or when loading or unloading vehicle. Must wear personal protective gear as directed, including a respirator. Work is dirty, dusty, and greasy. Incumbent is exposed to all types of traffic where there is possibility of serious accidents.
