You must meet the Specialized Experience to qualify for Supervisory Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner, as described below. For GS-14: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-15 includes: Applying regulations, policies or procedures while leading or directing staff of highly technical and complex medical, administrative, regulatory or policy development program or benefit program. Communicating technical information and presenting to internal and external customers with varying backgrounds to address concerns or resolve issues. Leading or directing units of claims examiners, medical benefits examiners, and/or medical billing staff regarding a highly technical and complex medical, administrative, regulatory benefits program to meet organizational goals and objectives. Adjudicating, reviewing or issuing decisions on highly complex cases for benefits based on evidence.
This position is located in the Department of Labor (DOL), Office of Workers Compensation Programs (OWCP), Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC), Medical Benefits Adjudication and Bill Processing (BMBABP), Medical Benefits Adjudication Unit (MBAU). The MBAU is responsible for the adjudication, Management and coordination of DEEOIC medical authorizations, medical bill audits, medical review, and quality assurance.
