Minimum Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must meet the (1) General Aviation Operations (Rotary Wing); (2) Selective Placement Factors; and (3) Specialized Experience for the grade to which you are applying. (1) General Aviation Operations (Rotary Wing) You must possess current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certificates and Ratings as follows: Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with Rotorcraft Helicopter or equivalent. Commercial Helicopter Pilot Rating with Instrument or Airline Transport Pilot with Helicopter Rating Valid second-class medical certificate NOTE: You are required to submit proof of the certificates and ratings with your initial application. Failure to provide documentation will result in disqualification from consideration for this position. (2) Selective Placement Factors (SPF) You must demonstrate possession of the knowledge and skills required for the work by meeting certain minimum flight hour requirements including recency of flight experience. The categories in which you are required to demonstrate proficiency related to the particular position being filled are (1) the general knowledge and skills to pilot aircraft, and (2) the specific knowledge and skills required of the position to be filled. Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours. Possess 1200 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) time in category. 25 hours PIC night in category. Minimum of 100 flight hours PIC Turbine Powered Helicopters. NOTE: Please include any previous experience flown as a PIC. Your application and/or resume must contain all mandatory flight requirements listed. (3) Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Experience providing flight instruction to helicopter pilots in mountainous and remote terrain (such as float, water bucket, off airport, low level, or wildlife surveys); AND Experience monitoring the activities of an organization to determine whether authorized program, Federal regulations, and good safety practices are being followed; AND Experience evaluating and implementing effective business planning and use of contracted products and services to accomplish program mission requirements; AND Experience supervising or leading a diverse team of professionals to meet project milestones and objectives. NOTE: You must meet ALL Specialized Experience requirements.
