You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Independently performing clerical and administrative support duties related to preparing forms and correspondence; receiving visitors and telephone calls; maintaining strict confidentiality for correspondences and communication; and utilizing and understanding computer operations and automated systems (such as various Microsoft Office programs) to create spreadsheets, databases, and reports and data entry. OR, You may qualify based on your education as described below: Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years of education beyond high school level. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED). OR, You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school. For GS-5 level positions only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the specialized experience, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Physical Requirements: The work is performed at a desk using a computer keyboard in a typical office setting. The requires walking, standing, bending, carrying books, preparation for events, files and assisting guests with luggage; and, occasional carrying, moving, lifting equipment, boxes and other items weighing up to 40 pounds between various offices and clinics within the medical center and various other buildings. The Primary Purpose of the Position is: To perform a variety of administrative and clerical work in support of the Fisher House; and to perform office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics. The Organizational Location of the Position is: The Fisher House Program is aligned under the Assistant Director of Operations.
