Your resume must also demonstrate at least least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-01 (GS-04) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing. OR Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination meets the requirements for GS-5. Applicants may also qualify for higher grade levels based on their education and/or experience. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Safety and Occupational Health Management Series 0018 (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
