Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the Engineering Technical Series 0802. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. NJ-04 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower at the next lower broadband NJ-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes and/or Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Expert comprehensive knowledge of 3-0 Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Solid Modeling programs specifically Siemens NX and/or CATIA is an essential skill requirement. Incumbent must possess a thorough knowledge of parametric modeling concepts and techniques, operation and language. How to create, store and retrieve electronic data files and graphics displays and how to manipulate these data files are essential skill requirements. Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft 3-0 structural modeling techniques, including detailed knowledge of assembly modeling and installation modeling. Skilled in creating complex 3-0 models of aircraft parts and assemblies for 3-D and associated 2-D Technical Data Packages (TDPs) including 3-D Model Based Definitions (MBD) per American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Yl4.4I. Skilled in positioning aircraft parts and assemblies in the correct location in 3-D space as related to aircraft coordinate systems and loft reference points and planes. A thorough knowledge of aircraft structural material and manufacturing processes and standards. Extensive knowledge/understanding of current Engineering Data Management (EDM) practices, policies and configuration control as it relates to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Skilled in the application of PLM database operations and structure knowledge to resolve moderately complex PLM problems with regard to CADD models. Skill and ability in applying project management techniques, principles, practices and document management, and the ability to apply these while following the Air Force EDM requirements (AFI 21-402) and current industry standards. Comprehensive knowledge of military and industry processes and standards for 3-D model creation, use and storage (such as ASME, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and Internal Organization for Standard (ISO) standards). PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The primary purpose of this position, ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN, NJ-0802-04, is to serve as a Senior Engineering Technician performing duties as a Technical Expert Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) Modeler/Designer in the creation of 3-D parts, tooling and fixture design, conversion of 2-D, and the validation of the work of other technicians in the organization.
