Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the (1) Basic Educational Requirements AND (2) Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying. (1) Basic Educational Requirements: In addition to the specialized experience requirements for this position, applicants must meet the Education Requirements described below: Degree: physical or natural science, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. The course work must have included at least 6 semester hours in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours in physics. Calculus and physics, as described above, are requirements for all grade levels. OR Combination of education and experience — course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. AND (2) Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Collecting and interpreting hydrological data to provide recommendations to decision makers on remediation or reclamation strategies or policies, and Serving as a project leader or senior project member on hydrologic investigations by planning, conducting, and reporting on interpretive studies MUST MEET ALL Note: Applicants selected for interviews may be asked to participate in a writing exercise or submit a writing sample as part of the interview process. This hydrologist position is in the Division of Regulatory Support within the Program Support Directorate at OSMRE in Washington, DC. The position supports national technical policy setting initiatives, reviews regional decisions to ensure consistency across the country, and is the climate bureau lead for OSMRE.
