To qualify for the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience include but not limited to; Supervision and/or management experience in a natural resource management agency; managing public lands for multiple use, to include energy and minerals, renewable energy, oil and gas, range management, realty, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation, archeological and paleontological, soil, water, and air, and fire management; resolving complex and controversial land issues; experience operating natural resource management programs within budgetary limitations; and providing and performing personnel management principles and techniques, including supervision, evaluation, motivation, discipline, planning, and organization. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirement by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: Nonnally works in an office setting with occasional trips to the field. Occasionally required to walk moderately long distances over rough terrain during normal fieldwork. Work Environment: Office work is accomplished in an adequately lighted and heated facility. When in the field, subject to injuries when walking in rough terrain and exposure to uncomfortable hot and cold temperatures. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
