BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Basic Requirements – Education In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the Basic Requirements for a nurse position. A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Basic Requirements – Licensure In order to qualify for this position, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Basic Requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) Grade Level In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree from a professional nursing educational program. Basic Requirements for the GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-11, Nurse Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: developing, planning, and providing clinical nursing education and orientation to practicing nurses. GS-12, Nurse Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Manages an organization-wide annual patient safety risk assessment based on culture of safety survey results, analysis of patient safety reports, targeted proactive risk assessments, and tracer activity findings. Develops an annual Patient Safety Plan to address identified risks, track corrective action plans, and promote a culture of safety. Seeks approval of the plan from the Quality Council. Selective Placement Factor In addition to the basic requirements and minimum qualifications, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibility of this position: Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) by the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ). This position functions as the Patient Safety Program Manager at Claremore Indian Hospital and reports to the Director of Quality. Incumbent promotes and leads a culture of safety at the facility and proactively mitigates risk of harm to patients in coordinated program management throughout the facilities clinical and non- clinical departments.
