To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (external link) (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (external link) (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. (A copy of transcripts or degree must be provided with initial application) Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (external link) (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (external link) (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (Copy of licensure must be provided with initial application) In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:In addition to meeting the above education and licensure requirements, applicants must have one (1) or more full years of experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Examples include: Perform full range of treatment in dental disease or health problems requiring corrective, restorative or preventative measures, encounters diagnosis and administers treatment greater than usual difficulty, deals with cases presenting patient behavior and communication problems. Experience supervising dental staff. Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Director of the Dental Services Department. Providing comprehensive dental health services to Indian Health Service patients. Providing direct services for patients, eligible individuals, non-beneficiaries, where applicable, and employees to include but not limited to vaccinations and testing for flu and COVID-19 within the service unit area. This position is located at the Mid-Atlantic Indian Health Service, Charles City, VA.
