The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/16/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/16/2024. GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Serving as an expert in analyzing the impact of existing or proposed legislation on asylum and/or immigration benefits programs; Developing asylum and/or immigration program standards, policies and procedures; Coordinating the long-range planning of new asylum and/or immigration benefits programs; and, Assessing the productivity, effectiveness and efficiency of asylum and/or immigration program operation. Asylum Officers are required to travel to circuit-ride locations (locations established to serve applicants in distant locations from the home asylum office, generally at other USCIS District Offices and detention facilities) to conduct interviews. As immigration emergencies arise, the selectee may be required to travel to other locations as well, sometimes for extended periods, to conduct interviews. This position is located in Refugee, Asylum & International Operations, Asylum Division, Tampa Asylum Office, Tampa, FL. As a SUPERVISORY ASYLUM OFFICER (Section Chief) you will supervise individuals who review determinations on complex applications for benefits, including whether an individual qualifies for asylum. Supervisory Asylum Officers (Section Chief) work in collaboration with FDNS to identify and detect individuals and organizations who seek immigration benefits via fraudulent means.
