Specialized Experience: Grade 9: You qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 07 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Examples include performing management advisory services for specific requests pertaining to human resources policies and practices as related to staffing; performing recruiting and internal and external placement activities such as developing vacancy announcements, assessments, and job analyses; and making job vacancy eligibility and qualification determinations for a variety of unrelated positions. Grade 11: You qualify at the GS-11 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 09 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Examples include performing management advisory services requiring research and applying human resources policies and practices as related to staffing or classification; making position evaluations including determining occupational groupings, appropriate pay systems, titles, and pay grades; performing recruiting and internal and external placement activities such as developing vacancy announcements, assessments, and job analyses; and making job vacancy eligibility and qualification determinations for a variety of unrelated positions. Education Substitution: Grade 09: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years or progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. Grade 11: PH.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations, (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
