NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. GS-15: To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Conducting independent research in STEM areas relevant to NASA missions and goals; Managing complex technical project, programs or research collaborations; Developing, implementing, and monitoring various science and/or research calls and awards. Note: A doctorate degree and a minimum of three years of research experience, or its equivalent, are preferred but not required for consideration. As the Associate Chief Scientist in the NASA Ames Research Center Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) you will be working directly with the Chief Scientist to provide advice and oversight for research programs, science integrity, evaluate proposals for new programs on areas related to NASA Ames Research Center science and promotes research partnerships that are synergistic to NASA Ames Research Center mission and competencies.
