The Chemistry series (1320) has an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR). To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the Basic Requirement and the Specialized Experience to qualify. IOR: Basic Requirements: Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. OR Combination of education and experience — course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. AND Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience for the GS 14 includes: Analyzing samples from OSHA field activities to verify correct sampling and analysis methods are being followed; using standardized Methods Development systems and procedures to produce useful sampling and analysis methods for OSHA field activities; participating in the development of health standards by providing advice on monitoring, chemical, or sampling issues; coordinating with team members to develop and/or modify field sampling procedures. Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-13 in the Federal Service.
This position is with the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the Directorate of Technical Support and Emergency Management (DTSEM), OSHA Technical Center, located in Sandy, UT. This position is at the full performance level. This position is outside the bargaining unit. This position is NOT remote. Selectee will be expected to report to the office listed above. Current DOL policy requires on-site work at least 5 days per pay period.
