Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN)

In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess: A. One year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service determining hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment necessary to accomplish unit objectives; managing the installation of computer and network system operating software for a unit; and resolving problems for a wide variety of IT applications, operating systems, and equipment. In addition, possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail – Ensures work aligns with organizational policies and procedures; 2) Customer Service – Works with clients or customers to assess their needs and recommend products or services; 3) Oral Communication – Delivers presentations or orally provides guidance to individuals with varying levels of technical IT knowledge using language and a style appropriate for the individual; 4) Problem Solving – Recommends updates to policies, procedures, or system settings to resolve problems encountered by system users – OR – B. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or possess such a degree that included a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above that required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
As an IT Specialist, you will serve as the primary IT field contact for all employees and volunteers within the North Dakota Group Parks: Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site, and Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site.
