QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C, Qualification Standard Handbook) will be used in determining applicants’ qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through the experience shown in your written resume and your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision. Listed below are the JOB ELEMENTS you will be rated on: Element #73 – Ability to Lead or Supervise (Screen-out Element) Element # 2-E – Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc Element # 25-E – Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Element # 60 – Use of Measuring Instruments Element #75-A – Ability to Interpret Instruction, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) Element #81 – Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Element # 82-A – Knowledge of Materials Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Navajo Region in Chinle, Arizona. Incumbent provides a variety of general equipment operator leader duties maintaining BIA system roads, bridges, transit and transportation facilities.
