In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions located here. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/1700/general-education-and-training-series-1701/ SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is to serve as a space operations instructor and provides technical expertise, corporate knowledge, and long-term continuity for all space test techniques and on-console instructional methods taught by the USAF Test Pilot School to include all simulator training, operational instructional methods and space test techniques taught by all space operations instructors including both resident staff and guest instructors. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Mastery of USSF space operations, crew training, crew standardization and evaluation, vehicle and system safety, and space operations test management; systems and operating procedures, advanced instrument techniques, and of the operation, characteristics, and limitations of the corresponding system simulators. Knowledge of the methods, DAF principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources. Military or civil space operations experience required. Knowledge of the Instructional Systems Development (ISD) process, requirements of space operator training, and the space operator training syllabus. Skill in the use of a variety of computer applications and software, to include simulator systems sufficient to meet desired learning objectives and to demonstrate procedures and maneuvers. Skill in review and analysis techniques and methods to appraise assigned programs or projects; identify needs and solutions; develop goals, policies, and procedures; monitor progress; and evaluate success. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, clearly, concisely and with technical accuracy. Additional Skills: – It is highly desirable for the incumbent have at least a MS in Astronautical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or close equivalents, and/or be a graduate of a military test pilot school (space or flight curricula) is highly desired. – 6 years of experience (Military, Civilian, or combination) in at least one of the following mission areas is required: satellite/space-vehicle operations, space domain awareness, space electronic warfare, missile warning/missile defense, and/or NRO operations. – 2 years of test and evaluation experience is desired. – Coding experience desired. -Graduate of one or more, 3109th Combat Training Squadron, NSSI, or other similar space studies courses desired.
