Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. To qualify at the GS-12 level: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: Supporting the full life-cycle of programs and initiatives (i.e., supporting the drafting of funding opportunities, supporting the coordination of regional office engagement, and supporting the undertaking of program evaluation and reviewing of grantee project deliverables); and Collaborating with various stakeholders internal and external to identify problems; and Reviewing and interpreting grantee information to determine financial and work progress to provide advice; and Advising management and staff on collected grantee information pertinent to granting awards; and Providing advisory services on grant programs and the regulations To qualify at the GS-13 level: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: Analyzing grant applications in accordance guidance and policies; and Managing a grant competition and program; and Managing the full life-cycle of programs and initiatives (i.e. drafting of funding opportunities, coordinating regional office engagement, and undertaking program evaluation and reviewing of grantee project deliverables); and Managing grants, both in pre- and post-approval stages Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
