Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-11 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Providing assistance to students, alumni applicants, staff, faculty and Tribal Funding Agencies regarding student financial aid data; determining financial need and eligibility for various, federal, state, tribal and other financial aid programs; monitoring disbursements of financial aid; interpreting federal policies and/or regulations related to Federal Student Aid and development of policies and procedures for the Financial Aid Office. OR Applicant must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level education leading to such as degree or LL.M., if related. OR Combination of successfully completed graduate level education beyond the second year of progressive graduate study and specialized experience that together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for the position. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.
This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Financial Aid Specialist you will be responsible for administration of the Financial Aid Office to meet the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institutions mission.
