You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Editing news and feature content accurately and rapidly under deadline. Applying the Associated Press style guide and organization-specific style guides when editing multi-media content. Identifying writing issues in drafts and providing editorial solutions and feedback to authors. Maintaining knowledge of current events and organization initiatives to support editing comprehensive multimedia materials to produce factual products that are clear and useful to a diverse audience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will serve as a news editor for all DMA/DoD production multimedia materials intended for defense.gov, the Defense Departments Cabinet-level flagship website, DOD social media platforms and on other digital media platforms to a worldwide DOD audience.
