Basic Requirement: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position. For vacancies below the full-performance level of the position, the basic requirement will be evaluated on a developmental basis. Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to the basic requirement above: One year of qualifying experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GG-04 Education requirement: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associate’s degree. GG-05 Education requirement: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree. GG-07 Education requirement: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor’s degree. The required education must lead to a bachelor’s degree with specialization in or directly related to the field in which the student trainees will receive training on the job. PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY: Upon successful completion of their academic program and the trainee program, interns may be converted to a permanent position in the Excepted Service consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. Conversion potential for this opportunity is a GG-2210-09 up to the full performance level of GG-12. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, conversion caps, or other events may preclude the conversion or conversion to a position with the full potential performance level. Individuals converted to a position in the competitive service may be subjected to participation in an agency formal development program. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Technician/Administrative Support Work Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA OC/CE/PACIFIC FIELD COMMAND.
