The position of Social Scientist falls under the 0101 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-13, you must meet all requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 10/16/2024. Basic Requirements You possess a bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree that includes at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. OR You have a Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR You have Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience , or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations. GS-13: You have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Utilizing behavioral and social science theories and techniques to develop new or revised policies; Identifying and evaluating a range of conventional and nonstandard approaches to solve health system related problems; and Measuring data outcomes to provide written justification for revisions to methods and/or techniques that are meant to support public health initiatives and education. This Direct-Hire position is in the Food and Drug Administration and is located in the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), Office of Health Communication and Education (OHCE), Division of Research and Evaluation.
