Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the lower range of the NY-02 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-7 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience must include all of the following: 1) Experience leading, monitoring, or coaching others, or assigning work to others; 2) Work experience conducting training sessions or presenting information to groups of people; and 3) Work experience providing general administrative support to an organization. Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant’s resume. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, team-based national service program for men and women ages 18-26. The program is designed to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based national and community service. Corps members are assigned to one of four campuses, located in Denver, CO; Sacramento, CA; Vicksburg, MS; and Vinton, IA. All program participation costs are included, e.g., lodging, meals, transportation, plus a stipend.
